Hair Care Tips
MAINTAINING THE BEAUTY, STRENGTH, AND LONGEVITY OF YOUR RAW HAIR EXTENSIONS RELIES HEAVILY ON A CONSISTENT AND PROPER HAIR CARE ROUTINE. RAW HAIR DEMANDS MORE ATTENTION THAN PROCESSED HAIR, REQUIRING GENTLE HANDLING AND REGULAR CONDITIONING TO KEEP IT HYDRATED AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. FOLLOW THESE SUGGESTIONS AND GUIDELINES TO ENSURE YOUR RAW HAIR EXTENSIONS STAY IN THEIR BEST FORM:
PREPARE YOUR HAIR BEFORE INSTALLATION
Make sure to thoroughly wash and condition the hair prior to installation.
DEEP CONDITION REGULARLY
We recommend deep conditioning every two weeks to maintain the hair's moisture and strength. Since the hair is no longer receiving natural nutrients from a donor, these must be manually replenished to keep the hair vibrant and long-lasting. A high-quality hair mask is ideal for deep conditioning.
PRE-WASHING PREPARATION
Before washing, gently brush through the hair to remove tangles, regardless of texture. This will make the hair more manageable when wet. Use only sulfate-free and paraben-free shampoos and conditioners to prevent dryness or damage.
DETANGLING TIPS
While detangling wet hair, apply conditioner generously and begin detangling at the ends, gradually working toward the roots. Use a wide-tooth comb or a wet brush, especially for wavy or curly textures. For very wavy or curly hair, we recommend a wet brush.
CONDITIONING FOR CAMBODIAN HAIR
Thick, creamy conditioners are most effective for Cambodian hair. After washing, gently pat the hair dry to remove excess water and comb through it before applying any product.
LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER
For additional moisture, apply a small amount of cream-based leave-in conditioner, which works particularly well with Cambodian hair. Alternatively, you can choose to forgo product altogether.
DRYING METHODS
Air drying is ideal to maintain the hair’s health, though a hooded dryer can also be used. Blow drying is not recommended, as excessive heat may lead to strand damage.
DAILY CARE
Use a small amount of hair oil daily to maintain shine and softness, but avoid over-application to prevent product buildup, which can make the hair appear dull.
For wavy or curly textures, a generous amount of leave-in conditioner can be applied to control frizz and define curls or waves. Cream-based conditioners are particularly effective for Cambodian hair.
HEAT PROTECTION
When styling with heat tools, always use a heat protectant to minimize breakage. Light oils, such as argan oil, can double as heat protectants.
BRUSHING AND COMBING
Use a wide-tooth comb or a paddle brush with soft tips to detangle and style your hair gently.
NIGHTTIME CARE
To preserve moisture and prevent breakage, wear a silk bonnet or sleep on a silk pillowcase.
COLORING YOUR HAIR EXTENSIONS
If you plan to color your raw hair extensions, consult a professional to avoid over-processing and achieve the desired result.
CARE FOR CLOSURES AND FRONTALS
Always seek a professional to bleach the knots for closures or frontals to maintain their integrity. Avoid excessive brushing, as this may loosen knots and increase shedding. Follow the general care tips outlined above for overall maintenance and longevity.
By adhering to these care guidelines, you’ll ensure your raw hair extensions remain beautiful, hydrated, and durable over time.
